Who Are We?
When people think of disability, a wheelchair is the first thing that comes to mind. But disability is much more than that. At some point, we all feel unable to think clearly, act, or even breathe, especially when anxiety strikes. In those moments, ‘normal’ doesn’t exist.
And yet, we hesitate to reach out for help, either because of what others might think or because we simply can’t. We blame the system but aren’t we all part of it? Only when we change will the system change too.
“At HrdyaSara Foundation, we are a family of artists, doctors, teachers, writers, and policymakers on a mission to break the stigma surrounding the term ‘disability’ and create a supportive community for everyone..”

The Soul of HrdyaSara Foundation
Sara’s Legacy
I was blessed with Sara, my first child, in 2006. She was truly special, both medically and literally. Medically, because she was born with severe and multiple disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, spasticity, and intellectual disability. Literally, because despite everything, she always smiled—a smile so contagious that everyone who met her smiled along!
Many times, I wondered how she could continue to smile even though she was in constant pain. It took me some time, but now I understand. There is an unexplainable beauty in being vulnerable. When we accept what we lack, we develop an added strength—a strength rarer and stronger than most. That’s why my Sara was special. She completed me. She taught me the true meaning of love, patience, and contentment. She made me who I am.
HrdyaSara Foundation is my passion project, built on the foundation of compassion, through which I hope Sara’s spirit continues to live. I started it to do for others what I did for Sara, moving from personal care to community support. And as I do that, I invite you to come and be a part of our family. Let’s do a little better each day so we create a better world for our children tomorrow.
Our Approach
2.21% of our country is categorized as disabled, and many struggle with mental health issues every day. Yet we often respond with apathy, pity, or ridicule. Why not choose acceptance instead? At HrdyaSara, we believe that acceptance begins with small acts of kindness.
Accept
We are an inclusive space where everyone is seen, heard, and understood for who they are, and our doors are always open to those who are in need of support.
Empathise
We are driven primarily by our values, but most importantly, empathy, ensuring that everything we do comes from a place of compassion and respect.
Engage
We build relationships that uplift and support one another, nurturing the talents and needs of not just specially-abled children but also their families.

What Can You Do?
The next time you encounter someone with a disability or feel overwhelmed yourself, remember that everyone has their own challenges so take a moment to breathe and smile. Sometimes, making a difference begins with something as simple as a smile.
Why Should You Do It?
We are all part of the same puzzle, with our strengths and weaknesses. By supporting one another, we create a world where everyone feels valued and heard. Educate yourself, become sensitive to the needs of others, and when you’re ready, contribute.
Do It For Yourself! Do It For Us! Do It For the Community!
